Kincardine bids farewell to two faithful Legion supporters
It was with mixed emotions that Kincardine bid farewell to two faithful supporters of the Legion at a celebration Saturday afternoon, May 7, at the Legion.
Red Larsen and Emma Greco are moving to London, May 25, and will become members of the Byron Legion which is near Springbank Park.
"We're going to miss Kincardine," they said, during an emotional goodbye speech.
Both have been staunch volunteers with the Kincardine Legion, assisting with many programs and activities, and serving on the executive.
Larsen was named Legionnaire of the Year in 2012 for his extensive service to the Legion. He has been in the Legion's Colour Party, and served on numerous committees, including poppy campaign, Canada Day, Legion Week, property, and ways and means.
He has earned the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the United Nations Medal, and the Korean War Veteran Medal.
Upon accepting the award, Larsen said he was grateful for the honour, and added that meeting his wife, Emma, at the Legion was one of the many great perks.
