Kincardine Guiding survives spring camp; welcomes moms to Mother's Day Tea

The Kincardine Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders and their leaders braved the snow and cold last month for a weekend camp at MacGregor Point Provincial Park, April 8-10.

The girls stayed in the yurts and learned the importance of keeping their camp gear neat and tidy while sharing quarters with others.

They cooked their meals, including a One-Utensil Meal at which each girl had to select a utensil from a bag and eat the entire dinner with it - some enjoyed eating spaghetti and Caesar salad with whisks, egg separators, spatulas and flippers. It was an interesting meal!

The weekend included a hike along the boardwalk at the park's visitors' centre where the girls fed the chickadees, as well as campfire, games and crafts, and making camp gadgets.

By Sunday at noon, the girls had their gear packed and ready for pick-up. The Guides and Pathfinders are planning another camp in June to end the year.

Meanwhile, May brought a special event as the Kincardine Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders welcomed their moms, grandmas, aunts and others, to a Mother's Day Tea, May 10, at Kincardine Baptist Church.

The ladies received flowers from their girls, and enjoyed goodies and refreshments in a beautifully-decorated setting.

Kincardine Guiding is winding down its spring session. The Advancement Ceremony will be held Wednesday, May 25, at Kincardine United Church, officially ending the Guiding year.
