Huron OPP report successful Prescription Drug Drop-off Day

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – The results from the 2016 Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day are in, and once again it was a successful event for the Huron County OPP. 

The detachment partnered with Rexall PharmaPlus in Goderich for this year’s event. 
 

More than two dozen people dropped off their unused and expired medication Saturday; and a total of four kilograms of medication was turned in for destruction. Officers received a variety of medication, including Schedule I prescription medication such as Hydromorphone, Codeine and Oxycodone.
 

Increased awareness of the dangers of unused or expired medication means that people are making a greater effort to take prescription drugs back to the pharmacy where they can be disposed of in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner. 
 

Please note:  Unwanted medication can be dropped off at pharmacies throughout Ontario at any time of the year.
