Who says there is nothing happening in a small town? June 11-12, there are three concerts that we know of in the area. "The Joy of Music" evening with Susan Ryman and Jennifer McCallum at the Ripley United Church, June 11, sounds great; the Kincardine Community Singers have two concerts, June 11-12; and there is also a concert in Lucknow sponsored by the Christian Reformed Church.
Congratulations to Corbin Bridge, son of Courtney and Michael Bridge, and to Gavin Bridge, son of Holly and Kyle Bridge, who both celebrated their first birthdays recently. Attending the festivities, were cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and special great-grandmother, Viola Bridge, of RVilla.
Bonnie Boyle, Heather Finnie, and Corinne Louther made a road trip to Franklin, Vermont, on the long weekend to visit and celebrate the birthday of their sister, Kerry Boyle.
Happy Birthday to Emily Simpson and Queen Victoria who share May 24th birthday.
Sympathy is sent to Jo and Brian Reid and family on the death of her mother, Kay McCormick. Also sympathy to the family of Wilhelmine Fair, and to Joan and John Pollard and their families on the death of her brother.
Jim and Fran Farrell visited with Derk and Lillian Logtenberg, Friday, and with Irene and Joe West of Stratford and Katrina West, Rob Baskey and new great-niece, Emily!
A very Happy 88th Birthday to Jetske deBoer who will celebrate the event next week. Cecil and Lori of Edmonton are visiting family in the area too.
It was good to see so many former neighbours at Winnie MacFarlane Siegal's 80th birthday party on the long weekend.
Visiting with Glen, Sarah and Paisley Farrell on the weekend, were Dave and Debbie Wray of Lindsay, and Grandma Margaret Wray. Grandma Wray will be visiting for a few more days.
The Miller Mall (Holyrood General Store) is a great place to visit with friends and neighbours from near and far, and also enjoy the store's famous ice cream.
The Spaghetti Dinner sponsored by the Ripley Agricultural Society, Sunday, was well-attended. As always, the meal was delicious and the fellowship was good too.
Folks that attended the 90th Anniversary celebration of CKNX in Blyth this past weekend, reported that they had a great time.
Also this weekend, the Presbyterian Churches in Ripley and Kinlough celebrated their anniversaries.
Janet Nixon, Marilyn Reid, Janet Rhody and Deanna Scott attended the Women`s Institute District Annual at Southampton, Thursday.
Congratulations to Nikki Reid and Collin Syvret on the birth of daughter, Addison Rose, May 23.
Mary Anne Kukoly enjoyed a visit with Ruthe and Hugh Duncan in Kitchener recently, also with Jan and Jud Maillette. Friday, she visited with Shirley Gilders in Clinton, and Saturday, with Delbert Hedley and Largaret McInnes at Pinecrest Manor in Lucknow.
Wednesday, the Ripley and District Horticultural Society had a successful Flower Show and Tea. Thanks to everyone who participated.
Congratulations to the Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN_ on planting 250.000 trees in our area. What an accomplishment!!
Thanks to the folks who organized the Right to Life Banquet at Underwood, Thursday evening. Folks from here enjoyed the special speakers from London, Owen Sound and Mount Forest.
