Crowd turns out for Kincardine Lions Walk for Dog Guides Sunday afternoon

Despite the threat of rain, a good crowd turned out, with their dogs, for the Kincardine and District Lions Club's Purina Walk or Dog Guides, Sunday afternoon, at the Davidson Centre.

About 50 walkers and 20 dogs participated, raising $6,724 for Lions Foundation of Canada which trains dog guides in six categories: Canine Vision, Hearing Ear, Service (for people in wheelchairs), Seizure Response, Autism Assistance and Diabetic Alert.

Sarah Cassidy of Point Clark, with her autism-assist dog, "Ian," joined Kincardine Lion Helen Gitter-Rothe, in cutting the ribbon to official begin the walk. Piper Jennifer Farrell of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, led the group from the Lions Park as they headed out on their appointed routes.

The event ended with a barbecue provided by the Lions Club.

Appreciation to all who helped out with this successful event. Despite the chilly weather, it was a heartwarming day!
