Power outage hits Kincardine Sunday afternoon

The former Town of Kincardine was without power Sunday afternoon and evening, from 1-7:30 p.m.

Westario Power after-hours personnel said the loss of hydro was a Hydro One issue.

A spokesperson for Hydro One said the problem was with the Douglas Point transformer station, but crews were on site. She said the restoration time depended on how quickly the crews could repair the problem.

Initially, power was expected to be back on by 4 p.m. However, that was later changed to 6:30 p.m. And the power finally was restored by 7:30 p.m., just in time for the Kincardine Community Singers concert at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine.

Meanwhile, other areas were also dealing with power outages. Hydro went out in Tiverton, Ripley, Amberley and Point Clark.

In Tiverton, a precautionary Boil Water notice was issued because the water system lost pressure due to the power outage. The water department was taking samples to send to the laboratory for testing so it can confirm there was no contamination that entered.

In the area south of Kincardine, the outage was caused when a tree branch took out a hydro line. Power was slated to be restored by 9:30 p.m.

Sunday's weather was cool and very windy.
