Escape Room fund-raiser set for this weekend at Kincardine Baptist Church

How clever are you at following the clues and solving the puzzle, like a modern-day Sherlock Holmes?

Welcome to Escape Rooms, real-life brain teasers in which you have 45 minutes to work as a team and solve the clues to complete a variety of tasks. The clues will test your logic, your creativity, and likely your patience with your teammates, but it all ends up being a great event for families, co-workers, teammates, or just a fun night out with friends.

 

Phillip Craig and his mother, Nancy, are hosting an Escape Room fund-raiser this weekend in the basement of the Kincardine Baptist Church. The mom-and-son team is fund-raising in order to participate in the Grey-Bruce Amazing Race, with all money raised going to OurKids Bruce Grey, an organization that provides funds for children to go to camp, to have adequate winter clothing, and participate in team sports. Phillip says Escape Rooms have become quite popular in such cities as Toronto and Kitchener, and one is opening up in Goderich.
 

For the Kincardine event, there are four rooms to choose from, each with unique challenges:

The Infirmary

A dangerous outbreak has killed millions, threatening civilization as we know it. Only one vial of the antidote remains but it is in the hands of a corporation that plans to make billions off the ongoing tragedy. Your mission is to break into the corporation's lab, steal the antidote, and save millions of lives. Accommodates three to eight people.

The Red Room

For some, the Cold War never ended. Members of a Soviet terrorist group have acquired a nuclear weapon that it plans on using to start World War III. You and your team have broken into the group's base needing to find the target of its attack so you can alert the authorities and save humanity from nuclear war. Accommodates four to eight people.

The Nursery

You've been invited to your friend's daughter's fifth birthday party. You've always thought this kid was a little weird but how bad could a party be? Pretty bad. Turns out this kid is a psychopathic genius who has devised a plan to see how smart adults really are. You have 45 minutes to prove yourselves worthy and escape to fresh air. Accommodates three to eight people.

The Inheritance

Everyone has that weird uncle - or at least had. Yours just died and a lawyer has contacted you saying that, as it turns out, he was a man of considerable means. He has a test devised to see which of his relatives will inherit his wealth. Will you be able to get weird, solve the clues and walk out considerably wealthier? Accommodates three to eight people.

“This is a great fund-raiser,” says Phillip. “It's not all about math or about puzzles, you have to use a variety of skills and creative ideas to solve the problem in each scenario.”

 

The event is cash only, and receipts are available, upon request. All the rooms are wheelchair accessible.
