Tiverton News correspondent Karen Ballok toured the water tower project in the village, Tuesday, and has the following photos and information to share:
"I had a great treat today when I was in Tiverton, stopping to check out the work on the Tiverton water tower.
"There were two men on a swing-stage platform, painting the outside of the tower using paint rollers and brushes. Even though they were using rollers, the work was coming along surprisingly fast. There was also a man climbing to the top of the tower to work. As the men were painting, the platform was swaying in the wind - that’s somewhere I wouldn’t want to be.
"After explaining why I was taking pictures, I was invited by the crew to see the work being done on the inside of the tower. I donned a hard hat, and we proceeded around the back of the tower where there is a “porthole,” and inside, were two men blasting the paint off the walls. Once the walls are down to bare metal, the workers will repaint them.
"It was an interesting to see the restoration work, and these men should be praised for being able to work at these heights!"
