"Bring it home" for the 2018 Kincardine Reunion
Everyone will be encouraged to "Bring it home" for the 2018 Kincardine Old Boys and Old Girls Reunion.
The winning slogan and logo were unveiled by the reunion committee executive, Monday night, at the TownPlace Suites Marriott Hotel in Kincardine.
Both the winners are relatively new to Kincardine.
Kayla Piekarz, who created the winning artwork for the logo, is originally from Kitchener, but moved to Kincardine about a year-and-a-half ago.
She said it took four or five tries to get the logo the way she wanted it. "I'm new to Kincardine so this was a bit of a challenge for me to come up with what I thought epitomized Kincardine, incorporating the lighthouse and the sunsets."
Piekarz took design foundations for a year at college before switching to public relations, and now works in that capacity for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District.
Keith Foster had the winning slogan, "Bring it home."
He and his wife, Sarah (Millar) have lived here for two years. However, she had lived in Kincardine with her father, Rob Millar, from the time she was 14 years old until she went away to college.
Foster said that he and his wife brainstormed several ideas, and as the deadline loomed, "Bring it home" was the slogan that stuck. "It works with the logo of the lighthouse, as a beacon, bringing everyone home for the reunion." He works at Zuul Inc. web design in Kincardine.
Monday night, was also an opportunity for people to sign up as volunteers for the reunion which is slated for Aug. 2-6, 2018.
Kincardine council has agreed that a $20,000 grant in support of the reunion, will be considered during the 2017 budget process. A $20,000 loan, to be repaid after the event, has also been requested by the reunion committee.
