Public alerting siren test set for Wednesday, July 20

This is an important message for those within the vicinity of Bruce Power.
 

As part of the Municipality of Kincardine's and Bruce Power’s emergency preparedness plans, a full-volume test of the nuclear emergency public-alerting sirens will be conducted Wednesday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
 

All eight sirens located within three kilometres of Bruce Power will operate simultaneously for about three minutes and again individually at each siren site. The tests are being done to confirm the activation and the function of the newly-refurbished public-alerting sirens.

The public-alerting sirens are part of the communication system used for anyone within three kilometres of Bruce Power, of any nuclear emergency. The system is operated, maintained and activated by the Municipality of Kincardine on behalf of Bruce Power and the Province of Ontario.
 

Kincardine and Bruce Power take emergency preparedness seriously.
 

These siren tests are an important part of our emergency preparedness plan.
