(GODERICH, ON) – Two females are currently in hospital with serious injuries after they plummeted off the Menesetung Bridge Wednesday afternoon (July 27).
At 12:21 p.m., the Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services, Goderich Fire Department and Canadian Coast Guard personnel, responded to the Maitland River in Goderich after a civilian called 9-1-1 to report two females had fallen into the river from atop the Menesetung Bridge.
Two civilians immediately entered the Maitland River and provided life-saving assistance until rescue units arrived on scene.
A 17-year-old girl of Bluewater was airlifted to a hospital in London. She remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A 20-year-old Goderich woman was transported to a local hospital. She remains in hospital with serious injuries.
Please Note: There are no safety concerns with the bridge, and access to the Menesetung Bridge remains open to the public.
