IMPAIRED DRIVER FACING DAY IN COURT
(ELDERSLIE TWP, ON) – Aug. 3, at 8:36 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Bruce County Road 3 in Elderslie Township, stopped a black GMC Jimmy.
The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Fifty-three-year-old Kent SMITH of West Grey Township has been charged with impaired operation and operate over-80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 31, to answer to the charges.
MOTORCYCLE RIDER INJURED IN “CLOSE CALL” CRASH
(BRANT TWP, ON) – Aug. 2, at 8:15 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 9 and Bruce County Road 3 in Brant Township.
Officers arrived to find that a northbound white Subaru Forrester started crossing Highway 9 into the path of an eastbound white Honda CBR motorcycle. There was no contact, but the rider left the motorcycle while trying to avoid a collision. He was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Subaru, 66-year-old Abid ASGHAR of Mississauga, was charged with fail-to-yield right of way.
