Where is the rain?! Driving along Highway 21 from Port Elgin, I noticed a large dust storm rolling across the fields. At the time of writing this article, there is a small trickle but no way near enough for the farmers' fields.
Local corn is for sale. Yum!

Tiverton Agricultural Society News
The agricultural society is accepting applications for a treasurer. This person must be highly-motivated and able to work as a team member, must attend monthly meetings; having knowledge of Quicken 2015 would be an asset. This is a casual, part-time position which pays a bi-yearly honorarium. All applications/resumes can be mailed to D. Todd, R.R. 1, Tiverton, Ontario, N0G 2T0. Deadline is Aug. 20, 2016. The Tiverton Agricultural Society would like to thank everyone who came out to the Bruce County Beef Dinner and for all the volunteers who helped make it such a great meal!
It’s only two months to the Tiverton Fall Fair, Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. So, it’s time to start creating your posters for the “OAAS Competition.” Open to all youth up to Grade 12, there are three different categories you can enter and these posters are posted around town to help promote the fair. You can find the guidelines/rules on page 67 of the fair book or on-line at www.tivertonagsociety.com
On page 26 of the fair book, you’ll find the guidelines for the fair displays; this is open to individual families and businesses, whether you live in the village or out in the country. There are great prizes for both these categories and you’ll be helping to advertise the fair. You can pick up a fair book at the Tiverton Library.
Manor Musings
Tiverton Park Manor residents will again be hosting their annual Cruise Night, Wednesday, Aug. 17. This event has been a success in the past with up to 50 vehicles participating. Everyone is welcome to come out and view these vehicles and enjoy the donation barbecue with all proceeds going to the residents' activities. The event starts at 5 p.m. and there is no need to register, just come on out. As in the past, there will be prizes, local musicians and lots of vehicles. Mark this date on your calendar.
Terry and Wayne Schell of Sunset Miniatures, Tiverton, brought some of their miniature horses to the manor for the residents to see. What a great time they had fussing over the three-month-old baby, her mother and her companion. Some of the residents grew up with horses and it’s been awhile since they’ve enjoyed their company. Thank you Terry and Wayne.
