South Bruce OPP report cash recovered; break-in; and reminder about safe winter driving

GOOD SAMARITANS HELP RECOVER LOST MONEY

(KINCARDINE TWP, ON) – Feb. 2, at 3 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received a quantity of cash that had been found near the Canadian Tire parking lot in Kincardine Township. 
Officers managed to locate the owner and the money was returned.


Feb. 4, another quantity of cash, also found near the Canadian Tire parking lot, was turned over to police. Between the two finders, the entire sum of $500 was returned to its rightful owner.
 

“I’m very impressed with the integrity of these individuals who turned over a significant sum of money for police to track down the owner," says acting inspector Mike Beatty, detachment commander, South Bruce OPP. "South Bruce OPP officers work hard to engage the community in crime prevention and public safety. I can’t think of a better example to demonstrate police and the community working together.”

POLICE INVESTIGATING BREAK-IN

(KINCARDINE, ON) – Feb. 3, at 10:38 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a break-in at the Royal Apartment building located along Harbour Street in Kincardine. 
Sometime between 3 p.m. Feb. 2, and 10:30 a.m. Feb. 3, the building was forcibly entered. The list of missing property includes a large steel tool box, plumbing tool box, PEX tool box, drywall tools and an electric paint sprayer. There is no estimate available on the value of the stolen tools at this time.

DRIVE SLOW IN SNOW

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce OPP is reminding drivers to leave more time and drive slower in winter months.

Between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Feb. 5, the South Bruce OPP responded to 10 motor vehicle collisions. On Statters Lake Avenue in Kinloss Township, a vehicle ran into the back of a snowplow, and on Prince Street in Walkerton, a motorist ran into a school bus transporting children. There were no injuries at either scene.

For those who decide to travel in a winter storm, keep your headlights and tail-lights on and clear of snow. Remember to keep your speed down, “If you see snow, go slow”.
