It’s wonderful to see the green again after the rain, and the local corn is now for sale. A quick thank you to Pat Stewart in Inverhuron for the wonderful afternoon of chatting about the history of Tiverton and Inverhuron. Pat grew up in Tiverton and since 1953, has had a cottage on the lake in Inverhuron. Let’s do it again soon, Pat.
Tiverton Fall Fair
There is something for everyone at the Tiverton Fall Fair, Sept. 30, Oct.1 and 2, with the theme this year: “Country Pride, Country Wide.” You can now pick up fair books at the Tiverton and Kincardine Libraries. And be sure to check out our website at www.tivertonagsociety.com
The Tiverton Agricultural Society is looking for volunteers, any age, to help out at the fall fair the week of Sept. 26 through to Oct. 2. We would appreciate an hour, two hours or whatever you feel you could spare. Come out and meet, and work with, some great people. To volunteer a little of your time, call 519-368-7114.
The agricultural society is also looking for contestants between the ages of 17 to 23, to be our next fall fair ambassador. This person must be single and reside in the former Bruce Township, Kincardine Township or the Village of Tiverton. The ambassador is eligible for a $500 “Continuing Education Bursary.” For more information or to register, call Laurie at 519-368-7980.

Kids events at the Tiverton Fall Fair
There will be FREE Pony rides, bouncies and a petting zoo for the wee ones; trackless train rides around the fairgrounds, holds up to 18 kids; popscicle stick hunt – find them all and get a Grab Bag; Needle in a Hay Stack; Kids Tractor Pull; Corn box; Face Painting; Milk a cow; and much more.
For the youth: NEW this year - Inflatables - $5 wrist band, lets you participate all day; 14-foot Striker challenge; Three-lane bungee run – challenging race, big and bouncy; Two-person gladiator Joust; Harvest, Haunted Maze – 1,000 square feet of fun; Zorb Ball - roll yourself to victory in the Zorb Balls; 67-foot Obstacle – extreme dual challenge - come out and challenge your friends, great fun! Also, Farm Olympics on the front ball diamond; Archery challenge; so much more!

Bruce County Plowing Match
The Bruce County Plowmen’s Association is hosting its annual plowing match Sept. 2, just east of Tiverton on Bruce County Road 15, at the farm of Mike Pinkerton and family.
The plowing match is a family-friendly event that runs from 9 a.m. to about 3 p.m. The day begins with the Queen of the Furrow competition at 9 a.m., with the Queen contestants plowing and then having interviews with the judges.
The rest of the plowing classes start at 10 a.m. and a soil health and cover-crop demonstration also runs at 10 a.m.. This demo is part of the coffee, crops and donuts series of workshops put on by the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA), and is sponsored by Huron Tractor, Stoltz Sales, Roberts Farm Equipment, J&H Sales, P&H Amberley, Sprucedale Agromart, Maple Seeds and the SVCA.
The focus will be on soil health and how farmers can use cover crops to improve their soil. There have been 24 demonstration plots planted at the site for comparison.
The other feature event of the day is the beef barbecue lunch and the Queen of the Furrow speeches at noon. Tickets for the barbecue are $15 each and will be available at the match.

Church News
Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church and St. Paul's Glammis welcome Euikyun "David " Chang to the pulpit on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. in Tiverton and 11:30 a.m. in Glammis. Please join both churches for a Service of Ordination and Induction for Rev. Chang, Sunday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., at Knox Church Tiverton. Both churches appreciate the hard work of their student intern minister, Rev. Paul Ko, who conducted services during the summer. We wish him continued success in his studies.

Come help us celebrate International Literacy Day, Sept. 8. We’ll have a display with a selection of books and authors from around the world.
Manor Musings
The Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band came out to Tiverton Park Manor, Wednesday, for a practice run before the Mass Bands Festival on the weekend. This is a yearly event which all the residents look forward to despite the wet weather. A big thank you to pipe major Jennifer Farrell and the rest of the band members.
