Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine wins big at Bruce Grey Holstein Show

Spectators at the 19th annual Bruce Grey Holstein Show held Aug. 30 at the Walkerton Fairgrounds, watched as Bruce Sayles of Paris, Ontario, judged 94 head of Holsteins exhibited by breeders from Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.

Grand Champion of the show was the mature cow class winner, “Marfloacres Sanchez Lady,” exhibited by Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine and Trinal Holsteins of Teeswater; with Reserve Champion honours going to “Lindenright Gold Annabel,” the senior two-year-old class winner, also shown by Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine.

The Best Bred and Owned Champion of the show was “Chakelburg Picolo Lasanga," exhibited by Chakelburg Holsteins of Mildmay, Showstyle Genetics of Mildmay, J-Star and Calaway.

The Junior Champion honours went to the senior calf, “Florbil Doorman Lilly,” exhibited by Florbil Farms Ltd. of Mildmay. Reserve Junior champion was awarded to “Valleyriver Lotus Stella,” the junior calf class winner, shown by Valleyriver Farms Ltd. of Bognor.

Premier Breeder of the show was Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine; and Premier Exhibitor honours went to Sunspark Farms Inc. of South Bruce Peninsula.

In the afternoon, 32 4-H members participated in the 4-H Showmanship classes. Zac Goodacre was Grand Champion Showperson, and Cole Holland as Reserve Champion Showperson. Zac and Cole were the first recipients of the Leanne Russwurm Brusso Memorial Perpetual award for Champion and Reserve Champion Showmanship.
