Warm, sunny day for Mammoth Ripley-Huron Fall Fair parade

It was warm and sunny, perfect weather, yet again, for the Mammoth Ripley-Huron Fall Fair parade, Saturday.

The Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band led the event, as it marched through downtown Ripley to the fairgrounds.

A mammoth crowd lined Huron and Queen Streets to watch the parade which featured Ripley-Huron Fall Fair ambassador Bethany Wilken, Kincardine's ambassador Delage Mowle, Lucknow's ambassador Sarah Alton and the Junior ambassador Drayton MacKenzie, the Teeswater Highlanders Pipe Band, Clarol the Clown, antique cars and trucks, and youngsters on decorated bikes, motorized vehicles, and in wagons, as well as numerous business and individual floats.

New to Ripley this year, was the Seaforth All-Girls Marching Band, under the leadership of Charles Kalbfleisch, 81, who has been directing the band for 38 years. The 35-member band marched in the parade, performing big band tunes.

Following the parade, was the opening of the fair and many activities, including a magnificent midway. More coverage to come, on the Kincardine Record.
