Now, wasn’t that a wonderful day to host a fall fair in Ripley? We are so thankful for the good weather, good crowds and an all-round good time. Thanks to Brian Reid, Sharon Martin and the entire executive for planning such a great event. Thank you, as well, to all the volunteers who helped out in so many ways. We appreciate all your time and efforts!
Congratulations to Roy Collins who celebrated his 80th birthday last week. Family and friends gathered at the Anglican Church in Kinlough, Sunday, Sept. 18, to wish him well.
Elizabeth Kelly of New Dundee visited with Mary Anne Kukoly recently and also other friends in the area.
Mary Anne was pleased to attend the bridal shower for Sam MacKenzie, Sunday afternoon in Kincardine. Sam received many lovely gifts.
Congratulations to all the folks with their fall fair displays. They were great! Thanks also to the horticultural society folks for the lovely flowers in the Village. Sure love the flags painted on the barn roof on the 12th Concession!
After the fair, the family of John Farrell gathered at the home of John and Joyce to wish their youngest grandson, John Timothy Leis, a happy first birthday. Sunday Karen, Leonard and Marsha Farrell visited at the home of Joyce and John.
It was good to see Julianne (Clifford) and Andrew House, and their baby, Geraink, home from London; and Ruthe and Hugh Duncan of Bloomingdale back for the fair.
Helen Colwell of Red Deer, Alberta, visited with the Colwell cousins in the area and enjoyed the fall fair.
Hope all who were able to attend the International Plowing Match at Harriston this week, enjoyed themselves. Many from our area were there, and the event was certainly blessed with good weather. Those who were able to see the RCMP Musical Ride enjoyed it immensely. We understand that next year, in honour of Canada's 150th anniversary, the RCMP Musical Ride will be travelling across Canada, instead of performing in just two provinces per year as they normally do. Those horses and riders are going to be incredibly busy!
Family and friends celebrated with a gathering at the home of Amanda and Joe Elliott recently - the couple was married earlier this year. Congratulations from all the Purple Grovers.
Congratulations to the folks who worked on the glossy magazine, "The Back Forty," put out by the Township of Huron-Kinloss. Great to see some of our local folks featured.
Ladies, just a reminder that our Women's Institute meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the afternoon. The topic, ‘Aging Gracefully,’ is an important one for many of us.
