SCHOOL BUS REAR-ENDED
(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County OPP officers are investigating a collision that took place Thursday morning, Sept. 29, involving a Pontiac Torrent and a school bus.
At 8:22 a.m., police responded to the crash scene on Brussels Line just north of Amberley Road. Investigators have since determined the Torrent was travelling southbound on Brussels Line when it collided with the rear-end of a stopped school bus. The bus had just come to a stop and was struck prior to the waiting students loading onto the bus.
Huron County Paramedic Services attended the scene, along with the North Huron Fire Department. None of the 21 students onboard or the involved drivers sustained injuries.
A 17-year-old male driver of Gorrie has been charged with Careless Driving.
TWO FACING BREAK-AND-ENTER CHARGES
(GODERICH, ON) – Two Goderich residents are facing criminal charges in relation to a break, enter and theft that occurred in the Town of Goderich last month.
Aug. 19, Huron County OPP officers were contacted by the owner of The Bistro Restaurant on Courthouse Square in Goderich. Police were advised someone forced entry into the restaurant and once inside, the thieves stole alcohol, a cash register and a quantity of cash.
A police investigation ensued and, with the assistance of the Huron County OPP Property Crimes Unit, investigators were able to identify two suspects responsible for the crime. Sept. 27, officers located and arrested both suspects in Goderich.
As a result of the police investigation, 30-year-old Perry BAKKER of Goderich has been charged with: Break, Enter a Place – Commit an Indictable Offence and Breach of Recognizance (two counts).
25-year-old Samuel LANGDON of Goderich is facing one count of Break, Enter a Place – Commit an Indictable Offence. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Oct. 17.
BAKKER remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for Sept. 30, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
