Bervie Women's Institute tours Pine River Cheese Factory

Diane Wilson of Kincardine welcomed 12 members of the Bervie Women's Institute to her home, Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m., with the theme being “Agriculture.”

Roll Call was answered by the members stating their favourite cheese.

A donation will be made to the Red Cross for assistance with those in Haiti impacted by Hurricane Matthew, and also to the Alzheimer Society from the collection taken last month.

President Sylvia Hasbury (left, in photo at right) presented Mildred Griffith with her “70th year” Institute pin – congratulations!! Mildred has recently planted many “150th” tulip bulbs not only in the Bervie W.I. hall flower beds but also in Kincardine along the boardwalk.

Following muffins and coffee the meeting adjourned, and the ladies were off to tour the Pine River Cheese Factory where they viewed a video of the operation and did a self tour – quite an interesting industry in our area.

The next meeting will be at the hall, Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m., with the theme being the environment.

Several ladies will attend the Bruce District Rally at Walkerton, Oct. 27.

Elsie Shular, Islay Eby and Sylvia Hasbury attended the Grey Bruce Area Convention in Keady, Oct. 6 – a very enjoyable day.
