Results from the 155th Tiverton Fall Fair

The Tiverton Agricultural Society held its 155^th Fall Fair under questionable skies but for the most part, it was great. The parade was bigger than ever, and a big thank you goes out to all who participated in the parade.
 

Rylee Evans is the new Tiverton Fall Fair ambassador, while Gina Spiridaki was first runner-up, and Hailey Woods was second runner-up. The prince was Hudson Ruthven and the princess was Taylin Taverner. Congratulations!

 

There were 18 entries in the pie and cake auction, bringing in almost $2,400 for the Tiverton Agricultural Society. The following were the results:

Friday night, Phillip Craig hosted a very successful “Home Run Derby” with seven teams of four players. It was great fun for both spectators and participants.
 

The Saddle Horse Show had 17 horses and riders; congratulations to all the participants. The track was in excellent condition, just a misting to hold the dust down.


 

In the children’s Pet Show, the seven-week-old puppy of Shaleigh Nolan was the winner of the Youngest Dog category. Caelin MacGregor’s dog took first in the Best Behaved category. Well done.
 

The Grand Champion of the Miniature Horse competition went to Vanessa Savage; with the Reserve Champion going to Rebecca Savage.

TASMANIA LIFESTYLE EVENT
 

New this year was the Tiverton Agricultural Society (TAS)Mania Food and Drink Lifestyle Event, held at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre, Sunday afternoon.
 

Thank you to the participants, guests, sponsors, and volunteers who took part. There were eight valiant competitors in the Farmer's Chili Cook-Off, and five fantastic Lifestyle Demonstrations. The intent of this event was to support agriculture and our farming heritage. There are requests for a repeat event next year. Contact Lisa at 519-368-2427 if interested in assisting.

Competing in the chili cook-off, were: Steve Eby of Team Eby Farms; Jamie Convay of Team Convay Farms; Suzanne Miller of Team Miller Time; Karen Ribey of Team Angus Knoll Farms; Paul Buchanan of Team El Hombre Impar de Tiverton; Linda Munro of Team Munro; Tracy Neitzel of Team Mrs. Neitzel and Jim Neitzel of Team Mr. Neitzel. 

Sponsored by The Beef Way, each team received a complementary package of beef, made a crock pot of chili, including five local ingredients, and provided samples to the guests to taste and judge. With eight samples on a dinner plate, guests were well-fed and the competition was very close! Although every team was a generous winner, Linda Munro of Team Munro was crowned the winner overall.

The meal for the guests was supported with donated home-made dinner rolls from Beacon Hill Farm Market, Tiverton; pizza from Patz Pizza and apples from Keyzer's Fruit Farm for the Apple Crisp for dessert, prepared by volunteer Pampered Chef Consultant, Karen Ribey. 
 

The Bruce County Makeover Boys, farmer & student, Roy King of Glammis and moose hunter, Glen Taylor of Tiverton, were rough looking to start in their plaid jackets, ball caps, old jeans and work boots. Katrina Smiley, and her apprentice, Angie Nicholson, of Hair Connection, Kincardine, provided the complimentary stunning hair cuts for the boys and two great prizes. West Shore Clothing provided the clothing for the boys to wear. We were all impressed with cheers and accolades’ with the before and after results! Thanks for the fun!
 

The Lifestyle demonstrations were remarkable with many in attendance raving about the high calibre of speakers who presented as follows:
 

• Rosalinde Hack, Embracing Health at Fine Fettle, Kincardine, spoke regarding the relatable science of critical, successful digestion and intolerances to food.

• Laurie Convay, ENJO Consultant, Tiverton, spoke regarding cleaning our world without chemicals and removing bacteria from surfaces using ergonomic, mechanical energy with less effort.

• Eleanor Petrie, Listowel, and Linda Robertson, Atwood, presented an incredible Double Trunk Quilt Show featuring their quilt artistry, various quilting techniques and many award-winning and brilliant quilts they have created.

• Michelle Lamont, Amateur Chef and Grandma, presented her spook-tacular creations of unforgettable Halloween Appetizers and gave away her recipes for all to make a Halloween party a success.

• Charlene Randall-Clayton, Coldwell Banker, Kincardine, spoke regarding Home Staging from a Realtor’s perspective providing home consultation service and money saving ideas in one package deal.

Beverages were provided by Nancy Alexander, co-owner of The King’s Pearl Pub and Eatery, Tiverton. Decorative plants and shrubs were provided by Folmer Landscaping Botanical Gardens and Garden Centre, Walkerton. Pumpkins were donated by Dale and Wendy Alexander Farm. Door prizes and silent auction items were donated by Pams Plants and Ponds, Underwood; Wendts Jewellery and Gifts, Mildmay; Hoity Toity Cellars, Walkerton; Hair Connection, Kincardine.
