Ontario Breast-Screening program to be offered at Kincardine hospital
The South Bruce Grey Health Centre's Kincardine hospital site has been approved to join the Ontario Breast-Screening Program through Cancer Care Ontario.

This is a province-wide, organized breast-screening program that provides high-quality breast cancer screening to women.

It offers many important benefits and, ultimately, can result in detecting cancer earlier, leading to better health outcomes. Women, aged 50 and over, are eligible for screening without a physician referral, through this program.

"We are very excited to be able to offer this program in the Kincardine community," says Paul Rosebush, president and chief executive officer of the health centre. "The Ontario Breast-Screening Program is proven to be beneficial for breast cancer screening and will be a valuable addition to the programs and services offered at our Kincardine site."

The Walkerton hospital site has been offering this program since 1998 and performs more than 1,700 examinations per year.

The program in Kincardine is scheduled to launch in early December.
