Purple Grove news

Several local 4-H members have participated at the Royal Winter Fair and others have been down to watch all the shows as well. Ripley-Huron Community School students attended last Monday. Congratulations to all exhibitors for a wonderful show; we couldn’t have had any better weather for travelling back and forth. 
 
There was a great turn-out for the Remembrance Day service and wonderful participation from the Ripley-Huron Community School in spite of the biting wind.

Congratulations to Jamie and Crystal Farrell of Holstein on the safe arrival of their second baby girl, Clara, Nov. 5; a sister for Danica. Grandparents Connie and Dale Ferguson and Jim and Fran Farrell had supper with the Farrell family Saturday evening.
 
The Ripley  Agricultural Society hosted the District 10 Fall meeting, Saturday. Congratulations to the District Competition winners whose exhibits will be going down to the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) Convention in February. 

Happy birthday to Marie Colling, Nancy Greenwood and Deanna Scott.

On a beautiful fall day, the MacKenzie connection gathered in Elmira to celebrate Ian MacKenzie's special birthday. Attending were Diane and Arnie Clifford, Heather Newman and family, Julianne and Andrew House and Geraint of London, Meighan and Ross Hunter of London, Gayle and Peter Bursey and boys of Mississauga, Bonnie and Glen Robb of Ashfield Township, and Mary Anne Kukoly. To say Ian was surprised is putting it mildly.

We are all looking forward to the Christmas bazaar at RVilla, Friday afternoon, Nov. 25.

The Ripley Horticultural Society’s Christmas potluck is this Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Joyce and John Farrell hosted a birthday party for their grandsons, Micah Droppert and Alex Becker, and Mary Anne Kukoly. This was prior to the arrival of their newest granddaughter, Emelia Nahwegahbow, daughter of Jennifer and Jeremiah, Thursday, Nov. 10.
 
Sympathy to the family of Donnie Slater who died Nov. 11.

The Grovers are to mark their calendar for the annual Christmas concert and potluck supper Dec. 17.
