Kincardine firefighters search for car reportedly driven off north pier at the harbour

Kincardine firefighters were searching Lake Huron at the end of the north pier, Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 15), following reports that a car was driven off the pier.

The fire department was called to the scene around 4 p.m., and two firefighters in rescue gear climbed into an inflatable raft and began searching the water, using a long, hooked pole.

About an hour later, the Saugeen Shores Police Service Zodiac boat arrived to assist, along with the Coast Guard Zodiac boat.

If the car were spotted, rescuers would mark the spot. Divers from the OPP Underwater Search and Rescue Unit are expected to arrive Wednesday (Nov. 16).
