Tiverton news

Well, I guess the Bruce County winters are finally here. We have been spoiled by the nice weather, to date, but are we really ready for winter? Because Bruce County winters can be so bad, we should all have the necessary supplies in our vehicles, such as extra clothes, candles, shovels, candy bars (yeah, right!) and a definitely, a cell phone. Take care out there.

My friend, Rachel, and I had the opportunity last week to attend the production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat” and it truly was “amazing.” I think this was one of the best productions I have seen to date. The actors were so talented and the singing was superb. I have to give a shout-out to my friend and co-worker, Rachel Page of Tiverton, on her beautiful singing voice. Great job, Rachel! Actually, great job to everyone in the play. I must say the “Elvis” was a surprise. Can’t wait to see what they have for the next show.

CHURCH NEWS

Once again, the Knox Presbyterian Church Cookie Walk was a big success. The volunteers did a great job baking and the customers came out in droves to enjoy the treats. Great job everyone and we look forward to next year!

TIVERTON LIBRARY NEWS

Did you know the Tiverton library has a preschool story time and craft every Friday at 11 a.m.? The program is aimed at children under the age of three, but everyone is welcome!

MANOR MUSINGS

The residents of Tiverton Park Manor were treated to line-dancing by Bev Oakley and her team. The group visits twice a year, and always in the winter for its Christmas performance. So inspiring!

The Manor was fortunate to have a float in the Kincardine Santa Claus parade. The weather during set-up was terrible but once the parade began, the weather co-operated and there were so many spectators along the way. Thanks to Paul Fidler again for helping with the float.

The Tiverton Park Manor Ladies Auxiliary held its annual cookie walk for the residents last week and there were so many goodies to choose from. Thanks to the ladies for all the baking they did. Residents look forward to this every year.

Students of Huron Heights Public School, Kincardine, came to Tiverton Park Manor, Friday afternoon, to entertain the residents with band music and the choir under the direction of Shelley Van Veghel.

Condolences to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Eileen Mould. A long-time resident of the Manor, she will be sadly missed. Little Eileen was tiny, but when she entered a room, she owned it. Known for her wolf whistles and cat calls of “chicken legs” to anyone wearing shorts, and her amazing sense of humor, we will always remember her. Little Eileen came to the Manor from Toronto and the only family she had left were the staff and residents of the Manor. Thank you to all the staff and friends who came in on their own time to stay with her in her last days. There will be a memorial at the Manor in the coming weeks.

Birthday wishes this week to Linda Hamilton, Anne Fletcher, Serenity Cates Dumont, Deb Catto, Phyllis Clark, Betty Fitzsimmons and Stacy Bernard. A special birthday wish to Shirley Black of Inverhuron on her 65^th birthday this week.

The St. Andrews Park tree-lighting was held Nov. 19 in Tiverton. The lights are beautiful and, if you have some time, take a few moments to walk through the park at night and view them, especially now with the snowfall.
