Kincardine Guiding has busy fall session, with camp, enrolment, and Christmas party
Kincardine Guiding has had a busy fall session, with camp, enrolment, singing at Trillium Court, meeting with Ronald McDonald, and wrapping up with a Christmas party.
The Brownies and Guides and their leaders, Alicia Noakes, Mary Ritter and Liz Dadson, held their fall camp at Camp Klahanie, south of Goderich, Nov. 11-12. Despite the chilly weather, the girls had a lot of fun, making meals, cleaning up, and keeping their gear neat and tidy. They also completed the Girls United Challenge.
Nov. 22, was enrolment, with a large crowd in the basement of Kincardine Baptist Church. The event began with marching in the Colours, and singing “O Canada,” followed by a welcome and introduction of the leaders.
Each unit did its opening and gave a brief description of the program, and the Brownies did their play telling how girls become Brownies. The girls received their badges and crests, and then the enrolment ceremony was held with the presentation of pins and certificates.
The following girls were enrolled:
- Sparks – Grace Ireland, Abbey Rowe, Katelyn Edey, Peyton Ann Gayler-Cashen
- Brownies – Bella Woods, Cali Forrester, Juliette McDougall, Maggie Rowe, Stormy Gervais, Jenny McLean, Jenna Ostrowski, Kendra Newton, Kyra Collins, Penny Small, Jayde King
- Guides – Alayna Middelkamp, Teagan Priboj, Grace Hay, Ashlyn Moseley
The event ended with Campfire and refreshments.
Nov. 29, the Kincardine Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders sang Christmas carols at Trillium Court Seniors' Community, Kincardine, and helped light up the Alzheimer Forget-me-not tree. The girls also assisted Andrew Vaivods of the Canadian Mental Health Association, with draws in support of the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce.
Nov. 30, the Guides and Pathfinders had a chance to visit with Ronald McDonald when he was putting on a show at McDonald's Restaurant in Kincardine. The girls also made Christmas ornaments for the tree in the restaurant lobby. There was a huge crowd and the restaurant was full.
And finally, the Guides held their Christmas party Dec. 7, while the Sparks and Brownies held their party Dec. 13, with games, snacks, and making and decorating cookies.
The next session begins in January.
