The season of giving continues
The season of giving continues, with more outpouring of financial support for local groups and organizations.
The Society of Energy Professionals donated $5,000 to the Kincardine Legion toward its $40,000 project to install a new heating and cooling system at Branch 183.
CRG Energy Projects Inc, a CRG Group Canada company, donated $1,000 to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District. The money will go toward the agency and its holiday operations for the children and youth in the Kincardine area.
Canadian Tire dealer John Satosek presented a cheque for $1,216.75, to the Kincardine District Secondary School senior girls basketball team, in support of the shot clocks for the school, and toward travel expenses for the team to go to OFSAA in Timmins. The team held a car wash in July and raised $1,216.75, with Satosek matching those funds.
Coach Vince Yenssen said this is the first time in KDSS history that a senior girls basketball team has won BAA and CWOSSA and gone to OFSAA. He said that two years ago, the team qualified for CWOSSA and went on to OFSAA.
Next season, he has eight of 11 players returning and hopes to make another run at OFSAA.
And finally, Moms Next is a group of mothers in the community who have school-aged children. The group meets once per month at the Harbour Church to share, communicate and be together. Moms Next has donated many lovely items to the residents in long-term care at Trillium Court Seniors' Community, Kincardine.
