South Bruce OPP report impaired driver; and wanted man arrested

IMPAIRED DRIVER STOPPED AT RIDE CHECK

(WALKERTON, ON) – Dec. 23, at 4:35 p.m., members of the South Bruce OPP were conducting a RIDE check on Yonge Street North in Walkerton, when a red Ford F150 pick-up truck was stopped. 

Officers noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Fifty-two-year-old John SPITZIG of Brockton was charged with impaired operation and operate over-80 milligrams. He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing.

WANTED MALE ARRESTED
(CHESLEY, ON) – Dec. 24, at 8:32 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer was on patrol along 2^nd Avenue Southeast in Chesley, when a wanted man was observed. 

The officer placed the man under arrest, but he resisted and ran from police. The area was searched with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit and West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, but the man was not located.

Dec. 26, at 3:47 p.m., the man was observed again on 2^nd Avenue Southeast in Chesley. He was placed under arrest, but refused to co-operate with the officer. A Conducted Energy Weapon was used and the man was taken into custody without further incident.

Thirty-four-year old Timothy JACOBS of Arran-Elderslie Township has been charged with resist peace officer, disarm peace officer and fail to comply with recognizance. He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing.
