Police investigating suspicious house fire in downtown Kincardine

The South Bruce OPP is investigating a house fire that broke out early Thursday morning in downtown Kincardine.

Police officers and the Kincardine Fire Department were called to the scene at 2:30 a.m., and arrived to find an apartment was on fire in the 800 block of Queen Street, between Durham Street and Broadway.

Kincardine fire chief Kent Padfield said firefighters from both Kincardine and Tiverton stations responded, as well as Bruce County Paramedics, and Westario Power personnel.

An aggressive interior attack was initiated and the fire was quickly brought under control, said Padfield. There were no injuries reported. No cause has been determined, and there is no damage estimate available at this time.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and is under investigation. The Office of the Fire Marshall's fire investigation section has been contacted and will be attending the scene along with the OPP.
