We hope everyone had a Happy New Year and wish you all the best in 2017!

Happy Birthday greetings go to Wilma Sutton and Barb Messenger who celebrated their 80th birthdays this week, and to Fran and Jim Farrell.

Maureen and Roy Collins had their children, Jennifer, Angela and David Collins, and their families, all home and together for the holidays.

Stefani Simpson of New York State spent the week before Christmas with her parents, Shirley and Doug  MacDonald. Christmas Day, they entertained Diane and Andrew, Alex, James, Meaghan, Fred and Airk; and Dec. 27, Shirley’s brother, Garry Lawton, and sister, Linda, visited.

Janet and Wayne Rhody had everyone home for Christmas except Skylar and Rain. Also attending were Eileen Emmerton and her brother, Lynn Evans. Zarian and Xavier Zuk spent Friday night with Grandma and Grandpa Rhody.

Wilma and Cecil Sutton had their family all home for Christmas. A family gathering was held in Listowel for Wilma’s 80th birthday.

Marilyn and Don Reid held their family Christmas gathering on Boxing Day. New Year's Day, Elisabeth and Bradley, Lori and Greg, Jo and Brianna Husk spent the day with Marilyn and Don. This past Sunday, Sandra Husk, Brian and Curtis of Kitchener visited with Marilyn and Don. Brianna was home to visit with her new nephew, Andrew Michael, son of Michael and Nicole Husk, born Jan. 6.

Sorry so many folks are having a tough time with the flu. Hope you are soon on the road to recovery.

The Logtenberg family held a Christmas gathering Dec. 31 at the Dungannon Seniors Centre. In spite of the inclement weather, there was a good turnout, and Grandpa enjoyed some traditional Dutch recipes. Fran and Jim Farrell visited with Lillian Logtenberg, Agnes, Ken, Neil and Alexis Logtenberg, Friday evening. Diane and Arnold Clifford had supper with Fran and Jim, Sunday evening.

Sympathy is extended to Irene and David Collins and her family, on the death of her father, John D. Campbell; and to Betty Johnson and her family on the death of her husband, Rae.

Mary Anne Kukoly spent a day with Shirley Gilders of Clinton after hearing of the death of Joan Colwell. Joan and Jack were wintering in Arizona. Mary Anne was pleased to have a visit with her cousin, George Knight of Picton, on one of those miserable stormy days. Hope everyone stayed safe.

Purple Grove Women's Institute ladies, we will see you Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Fran’s for the noon potluck.
