Two Kincardine youth donate Christmas money to Jumpstart program
Dylan and Dayle Chinnick, both 11, of Kincardine, have continued the joyful spirit of giving, by donating money they received at Christmas, to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program.
Kincardine Canadian Tire dealer John Satosek said he was thrilled when the pair came into his store, Friday, to make the donation.
"Their grandparents gave them some money for Christmas," he said. "They researched local charities and chose Jumpstart to donate that money to. I thought it was wonderful to see the spirit of giving in young people.
"It's amazing they understand that not everyone is as fortunate as they are, and that they are able to help out others in need. They are both active in sports and see the importance of other children getting involved in sports as well."
Jumpstart is a registered charity dedicated to removing financial barriers so youth across Canada have the opportunity to get off the sidelines and get into the game.
The program’s core purpose is to enrich the lives of young people (age four to 18) in need, through sports and physical activity. It helps pay the costs associated with registration, equipment and/or transportation.
Jumpstart helps youth explore a range of options by supporting more than 70 different activities. In addition to enabling participation in high-profile sports, such as hockey, soccer and swimming, it helps youngsters take dance lessons and martial arts classes, play ringette or take part in several other activities.
What kids do is up to them; Jumpstart is there to help them do it.
