We hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day, Tuesday. 'Tis the season for love, although every season should be the season for love.
 
Wasn’t that "fun" with the power out?! Hope everyone stayed relatively warm or sought out folks with alternative heat.
 
Congratulations to Gabrielle and Greg Smith on the birth of their daughter, Julianna Emily, born Jan. 31. Heather and Sam Finnie were pleased to welcome their new granddaughter who is a great-granddaughter for Irene Boyle.
 
Irene’s family gathered at Brucelea Haven in Walkerton, Saturday, to wish her a Happy Birthday. Irene got to meet Julianna for the first time.
 
Our sympathy goes out to the family of Ivan McFarlan. Ivan was raised on the 12th and shared his gift of music with so many folks. Our sympathy is also sent to the family of Betty Elliott McFarlan of Kincardine. She will be missed by all of us.
 
We hope that all the folks in the hospital are staying comfortable, as well as those who are ill at home. Get well soon!
 
Mary Anne Kukoly visited with her cousin, Betty Carrick, in Owen Sound last week.
 
PURPLE GROVE WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETING
 
The February meeting was held at the home of Diane Clifford. The home was suitably dressed in red as were all the ladies, so no one had to pay a fine. 

The Roll Call about local or global concerns we have, was very interesting. Lots of things around that could be improved. Shirley MacDonald read the Scripture. The Provincial Conference and ACWW Conference, scheduled for June, were discussed. 

Convener Maureen Collins gave some interesting readings on Valentine’s Day. She then turned the meeting over to Diane who demonstrated her long-arm quilting machine. What a marvel! What would the old-timers think if they could see one of these working?

Christine Roberts and Donna Swan provided a tasty lunch and then the serious visiting began. The next meeting will be March 1 at the home of Mary Anne Kukoly.
