Purple Grove news

With all this beautiful weather over the weekend, folks got a lot of visiting done and participated in Family Day weekend activities around the community and further away. Safe travelling everyone! 
 
Wednesday afternoon, the Ripley and District Horticultural Society had a brief meeting and social, sharing horticultural questions and suggestions and enjoyed Diane Clifford’s presentation about her experiences learning to be a beekeeper.  Members also contributed suggestions for the March meeting and the youth activities planned for it.
 
Folks have been enjoying the Kincardine Theatre Guild’s presentation of “Office Politics.” Congratulations to Corinne Robertson-Brown and the cast and crew for a great show!
 
Friday evening, a small representation of Purple Grovers gathered at the home of Heather and Sam Finnie for some games and visiting.
 
The Ripley Agricultural Society sent a delegation of participants and our ambassador, Bethany Wilken, to attend the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) Convention in Toronto from Thursday to Saturday. 
 
Visiting with Diane and Arnie Clifford on the weekend, were Meighan and Ross and Everleigh Hunter of London.
 
Visiting Saturday with Jim and Fran Farrell, and enjoying a sleigh ride with grandpa on the weekend, were Jamie and Crystal, Danica and Clara Farrell, Allan and Janelle, Quinn and Aubrey Cassell of Holstein, Glen and Sarah and Paisley Farrell, and Carmen Farrell-Knapp. Jim and Fran visited with John and Joyce Farrell, Saturday evening.
 
It was a great weekend for the Ripley Winter Carnival with a good turn-out for the Lions Costume Skate, the Pancake Breakfast, euchre and bridge games, the sleigh rides, hockey skills and ice-painting. And there was some pretty good hockey to watch too! Thanks to all the organizers for a fun weekend!
 
Found: a ladies' black, quilted jacket, close to the 12th and Bruce County Road 7, size large with AREVA in red letters. If you have been missing a jacket for the past two weeks, ask Michelle at Ripley Variety about it.
