Snowy owl on a line causes power outage in Point Clark area
A snowy owl on a power line caused a hydro outage, Tuesday morning (Feb. 28), in Point Clark area.
A Hydro One spokesperson said about 3,300 customers were affected when the power went out at about 8:30 a.m.
The cause was animal contact. In this case, it was a snowy owl that made contact and tripped the wire. The hydro crew had to force the breaker open and then replace the breaker. Power was restored by 9:50 a.m.
Apparently, animal contact, in the form or raccoons, squirrels and birds, causes a number of outages, according to Hydro One.
