Kincardine donates $5,000 to plowing champion Evans; fund-raising dinner planned
Kincardine council has put its money behind national reversible-plowing champion Tom Evans of Tiverton.

Wednesday night (March 15), council endorsed a motion presented by councillor Randy Roppel, to donate $5,000 to Evans in his quest to win the world plowing championship, set for Kenya in December of this year.

The motion states that the municipality will provide a $5,000 financial donation to Evans for this endeavor, to include an ad in the Bruce County Plowmen’s Association souvenir program booklet for the 2017 Canadian plowing championship to be held in Brockton.

Council agreed to fund the donation from this year's operating budget, with a specific funding source to be determined at year-end upon reconciliation of the accounts.

In addition, the community is hosting a fund-raising dinner in support of Evans who will be representing Kincardine, Bruce County and Canada in Kenya.

The dinner will be held Saturday, April 8, at 6 p.m., at the Underwood Community Centre. The fund-raiser will feature silent and live auction items. Admission by donation at the door.
