Richard Yun named Citizen of the Year at Community Achievement Awards in Kincardine

Richard Yun has been named the Bruce Power Citizen of the Year.

The award was presented last night (March 25) at the Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce Community Achievement Awards held at the TownePlace Suites Marriott Hotel in Kincardine.

Chris Mercanti (above right, with Michael Yun) of Bruce Power congratulated all the nominees for the citizen of the year, which included Lynn Evans and Linda Stanley, before announcing that the award went to the late and greatly-missed Richard Yun.

Michael Yun accepted the award on behalf of his father.

"My dad is not here today but for any of you who knew him, he was always prepared, and he had this speech ready so I'll read from it," said Michael. "Dad was honoured and humbled by this award, and was pleased to be recognized with others he looked up to and admired."

He said Richard was born and raised in northern Ontario and worked in the family business which was a Chinese restaurant. He admired entrepreneurs for their hard work and dedication toward making their communities better, and he urged everyone to build on the great community spirit of Kincardine.
