Kincardine Miller Midgets finish season as All-Ontario Midget "B" finalists
The Kincardine Miller Midgets made it to the finals in their quest for the All-Ontario Midget "B" championship but that's where the season ended.
The team had a great year, playing five tournaments and bringing home four championship titles, including the International Silver Stick.
The Midgets won the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) semi-finals against Parry Sound, in three games, and advanced to the finals against the Mooretown Junior Flags.
After losing two games on the road, the Midgets had to win Friday night's game at the Davidson Centre, or be eliminated from the playoffs.
Chris Coady got the Midgets on the scoreboard, with an unassisted goal in the first period, but that was all for Kincardine and the game ended, 4-1 for Mooretown.
The Miller Midgets' record for the season was a solid 43-8-2. The team included goalie Jamie Brock, Dayn Freiburger, Brad Pickett, Jacob Bishop, Ryan Thede, Jake Fair, Rhys Vollmer, Connor Gibson, Skylar Rutledge, Will Graham, Riley Cherrett, Chris Coady, Chase Meurs, Kyle Hunter and Brennan Long.
The coaches are proud of the team - a great group of boys all working toward the same goal. Head coach was Cory Hamilton, with assistant coaches Jarrett Johns, Blake Alton and Cody Hamilton, trainer/manager Lyle Brock, and assistant trainer Jim Coady.
