Jake Owen, Tom Cochrane, Tim Hicks to headline Lucknow's Music in the Fields
Jake Owen (above), Tom Cochrane (below) with Red Rider, and Tim Hicks are set to headline the ninth annual Lucknow’s Music in the Fields, slated for Aug. 24-26 in Lucknow.
International recording star Owen is the main act Saturday night, along with Cochrane and Red Rider, the Washboard Union, River Town Saints and Alee.
An Academy of Country Music (ACM) award winner, Owen has six albums to his name, all of which reached the Top 10 on the country charts. He brings incredible energy to the stage with number one songs, such as “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “Alone with You,” “Beachin’," “The One that Got Away," “Anywhere with You,” and “American Country Love Song.”
Hicks, who performed at Lucknow's Music in the Fields in 2014, is back as the headliner for Friday night. The two-time JUNO Awards nominee and Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) award winner is known for his compelling stage presence. The platinum-selling Canadian superstar has released three albums, multiple Top 10 hits and already has five GOLD certified singles to go with the platinum-certified break out track “Get By.”
Joining
Hicks
, are Cold Creek County, and London, Ontario's Genevieve Fisher.
The Lucknow and District Kinsmen Club will once again kick off the three-day country music festival with the highly-popular Thursday Night Throw-Down, featuring Meghan Patrick.
Also returning is the hugely-popular Emerging Artist Showdown in which today’s up-and-coming artists have an opportunity to showcase their talent on the Sepoy Saloon side stage.
Much has changed for 2017 - most importantly, the new site. Still within the limits of Lucknow, the entire festival will be at “Graceland,” including all campsites, which means everyone will have easy access to the festival grounds. Other new experiences include: additional drink selection from Craft breweries and wineries which will augment the traditional Sepoy Saloon selections; and, a new all-ages festival grounds.
“We believe that Lucknow’s Music in the Fields is largely unique compared to many other festivals," says marketing director Steve Neeb. "Showcasing world-class country music artists, with a cross-section of established and rising acts, we bring the stars to small-town Ontario.
"Not many villages can speak to the talent that has performed at Lucknow’s Music in the Fields, but it has developed into so much more than a music festival. With around 75 per cent of the patrons camping, the festival has become a weekend destination. In this very competitive market, we continue to make changes to keep the event fresh and look for new ways to engage our crowds.
"Despite all of the changes, it remains the same intimate, family-friendly festival, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to charity. With distributions now over $1-million, it remains a critical component of our communities and we are very proud of this event.”
