Precautionary boil-water advisory issued for part of Kincardine
The Kincardine public works department has issued a precautionary boil-water advisory for a portion of the Town of Kincardine where workers are fixing a water leak.
Saturday afternoon, public works director Adam Weishar sent out a notice that, as a result of an attempt to repair a system leak in front of St. Anthony's School on Russell Street, the crew encountered a secondary leak which also required immediate repair.
"The secondary leak is a valve located at Walsh Street and Palmateer Drive," stated Weishar. "In order to perform the repair on the valve, the areas of Palmateer Drive, Johnston Crescent, and Hunter Street, will be hooked to a temporary feed which we anticipate will result in low water pressure to customers in that service area.
"Russell Street will be closed from Palmateer to Johnston in order to perform the repair, but will be accessible for emergency vehicles. Staff on site is anticipating low pressure from approximately 2-8 p.m. while the necessary repairs are completed."
About an hour later, Weishar sent an additional notice, stating that the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change had requested the municipality issue a precautionary boil-water advisory
for the area affected only, due to the loss of pressure in the system. Staff was hand-delivering notices to those living in the affected area.
