Boil-water advisory lifted for affected area of Kincardine
A precautionary boil-water advisory, issued Saturday for a portion of the Town of Kincardine, has been lifted.
Public works director Adam Weishar reported Monday morning that water sample results have come back clean, and staff was providing notices to the affected customers that the advisory has been lifted.
The notice was prompted by the discovery of a secondary leak while the public works crew was fixing a watermain break in front of St. Anthony's School on Russell Street. In order to fix a water valve at Walsh Street and Palmateer Drive, the areas of Palmateer, Johnston Crescent, and Hunter Street, were hooked to a temporary feed, resulting in low water pressure to customers in that service area.
Russell Street, from Palmateer to Hunter, was closed through the afternoon and into the evening, Saturday.
Due to the loss of pressure in the system, the municipality then issued a precautionary boil-water advisory
for the area affected only, with staff hand-delivering notices to those living in that area.
Meanwhile, the Bluewater District School Board had also taken precautions Monday, providing water coolers and water for students and staff at Huron Heights Public School, Kincardine, due to the watermain break and the precautionary boil-water advisory in that area.
