Sorry to hear that Shirley Galloway fell and broke a hip last week. She’s back home again. Get well soon!

Also get well wishes to those in hospital and suffering from the flu again.

Spring is in the air, the birds are singing and some tundra swans have made their appearance again. Anyone heard any frogs singing yet?

PURPLE GROVE WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

The March meeting of the Purple Grove Women's Institute was held at the home of Mary Anne Kukoly. President Janet Rhody opened the meeting and welcomed all attending. There were some great tips offered about being clutter-free.

Maureen Collins read the Scripture. Fran Farrell read the minutes, and items discussed were the upcoming District Annual and the Provincial Convention. Marilyn Reid gave the District Directors meeting report.

Convener Fran Farrell introduced the guest speaker, Emily Martin of the Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN). She gave us an excellent presentation on the work being done and the various projects that have been completed. In our travels in the area, we have seen the reforestation projects and wetland at the McLarty Centre. During the presentation, the ladies asked questions to Martin as part of the Roll Call. She was thanked by Mary Anne.

A great lunch was provided by Shirley MacDonald and Christine Roberts.

The next meeting will be at the home of Wilma Sutton, April 5,  at 7 p.m. This will be the annual meeting.
