Bruce Telecom launches new brand, new website, and free WiFi in downtown Kincardine

It was a triple-play of triumph for Bruce Telecom, Tuesday night, as the company announced its new brand, its new website and the provision of free WiFi in downtown Kincardine, during a celebration at the Bruce Steakhouse.
President and chief executive officer Bart Cameron (right) welcomed a great crowd to the event, and said the new marketing scheme includes an updated logo with vibrant colours for the telecommunications company, owned and operated by the Municipality of Kincardine.
The new logo looks like two splotches of paint in blue and green, and is supposed to signify the "share" symbol used on social media, said Cameron. The new slogan is "Connecting our Community," as community remains a key focus of the organization.
"It's a subtle, but meaningful, shift," said Cameron.
Meanwhile, the new website, at
www.brucetelecom.com, is designed to be more user-friendly, mobile-friendly, and incorporates the new brand, he said. The website will continue to evolve, providing more customer-interaction opportunities.
Cameron was thrilled to announce the partnership with the municipality and the Kincardine Business Improvement Area (BIA) to bring free WiFi to downtown Kincardine. The network provides seamless access along Queen Street, from Broadway to Victoria Park, with additional coverage planned for Harbour Street, Station Beach and the Marina area, as well as Macpherson Park.
Users will have the option of accessing the network as a guest on a limited time and data-based session, or as an existing Bruce Telecom Internet customer with unlimited free access, said Cameron. The service will provide a valuable amenity for visitors and residents, alike, by encouraging them to stay connected as they stroll and shop through the downtown.
Rick Clarke, downtown manager with the BIA, said it's been about five years in development, but he is pleased that free WiFi is now available in downtown Kincardine.
"It was an enthusiastic team working together to make this happen," he said, acknowledging the dedication of Cameron, Kincardine chief administrative officer Murray Clarke and himself on this initiative.
"This is what we need to make downtown Kincardine more user-friendly for visitors and local residents," said Rick Clarke. "I'm proud of what Bruce Telecom has made possible. It's all really high-tech - what they can do and what they're planning to do."
On behalf of the municipality, Murray Clarke said Bruce Telecom serves Kincardine well.
"I'm pleased to see Bruce Telecom now has the tools it needs to compete in such a highly-competitive sector," he said. "The launch of the new brand and website give the company a marketing and promotional edge. As for the free WiFi in downtown Kincardine, we worked with Bart (Cameron) and Steve (Soychak, financial officer) and we made it happen.
"This is an exciting time for Kincardine. There is so much potential for investment, with Bruce Power embarking on its Major Component Replacement program, and the support for supply chain businesses to locate here. This is great news for the community and the region."
Murray Clarke said the municipality continues to work with its partners, Huron-Kinloss and Arran-Elderslie, to bring natural gas to the area.
"In fact, we have affected change in the structure of natural gas in Ontario," he said. "The OEB (Ontario Energy Board) has now introduced competition in the natural gas sector. I expect we'll see pipes in the ground by this time next year."
