Actors, extras sought for documentary on history of Bruce County
Coming to small screens across the province on TVO, is a new documentary series exploring stories from Bruce County, and the Saugeen Ojibway Traditional Territory.
The three-part series will bring to life exciting scenes from the region's history, and the producers are inviting actors of all ages to audition for more than 50 roles as the area's most-celebrated, and notorious, historical figures. No experience is necessary and volunteers will receive a complimentary copy of the project on DVD.
Filming will take place throughout the year, but mostly on summer and fall weekends. A commitment of one day is all that is required for most roles - with costumes, meals and refreshments provided. Honorariums will be provided to those with an extended commitment.
Auditions will be held April 11 and 22 in Southampton, and April 23 in Tobermory. All interested parties should E-mail producer Yvonne Drebert at yvonne@visualheritage.ca for more information and an audition time. Resumes and headshots are welcome but not required.
If you are looking to develop behind-the-scenes skills, there are volunteer and paid positions available for those seeking film-production experience.
As part of the award-winning "Ontario Visual Heritage Project," the documentary will be distributed for free, along with a curriculum companion book, into every school in Bruce County, and shared with hundreds of thousands of Ontarians on TVO. To launch the series, screenings will be held throughout the county.
This project is supported by community partners and a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
