Walkerton wins second annual Kincardine adult indoor soccer tournament
The second annual Kincardine Adult Soccer Association co-ed indoor soccer tournament was held April 1 at the Davidson Centre.
Six teams competed in the tournament, with the
Walkerton team (above) defeating Kincardine in the final to take the win.
All six teams participated in a five-game round-robin which decided the seeding for the championship games. The Walkerton and Kincardine teams beat out the rest and advanced to the finals.
In a hard-fought effort, Walkerton scored the first goal with Kincardine tying shortly after. With just 30 seconds remaining in the game, Walkerton scored the winning goal.
The tournament was made possible with the support of sponsors Boston Pizza and Magnum Fitness. Cody Owens of Magnum Fitness provided the players with a pre-tournament warm-up class to ensure everyone was ready for the minimum six games of soccer that day, and Boston Pizza hosted the teams for a post-tournament celebration.
The tournament raised $1,500 which will go toward the association's capital project fund to improve soccer infrastructure in the Kincardine area.
Appreciation to the Municipality and its staff for the support in making this tournament a success.
As indoor soccer comes to end, the association gears up for summer soccer. Registration is now open for 11-aside soccer Monday nights, and six-aside soccer Tuesdays and Thursdays. More information can be found at
