Sold-out crowd raises $2,500 for Special Olympics at Mudmen show in Kincardine
The sold-out crowd was having a blast Saturday night, dancing to, and enjoying the music of The Mudmen, at the Kincardine Legion.

The event was a fund-raiser for Special Olympics Ontario - Kincardine and District which supports athletes with intellectual disabilities by providing sport training and competition. The local organization supports about 30 athletes in six sports. The athletes range in age from 15 to 80, and reside in the Municipality of Kincardine or the Township of Huron-Kinloss.

Money raised Saturday night will assist five track-and field athletes who have been selected to compete at the Provincial Summer Games in Peel Region in July, and will be used to help maintain and grow the local Special Olympics sports programs.

Event organizer Christine Goodspeed was thrilled that the dance was a sell-out, with a total of 186 tickets sold.

The crowd had a great time, and The Mudmen were certainly entertaining. The group features brothers Robby and Sandy Campbell on the bagpipes, with lead singer and guitarist Mike Meacher, bass guitarist Dan Westenenk and drummer Jeremy Burton. They are familiar to Kincardine, having performed for several years at the Kincardine Scottish Festival.
