Kincardine mayor takes up poetry challenge
For the second year in a row, the challenge has been accepted by Kincardine mayor Anne Eadie, to read some poetry in honour of April being National Poetry Month.
Kim Schubert, chairperson of the Kincardine arts, culture and heritage committee, brought the challenge forward in the public forum section at the start of the council meeting Wednesday night (April 5).
"I urge the mayor to take up the poetry challenge," she said.
Eadie agreed.
Last year, she read "Casey at the Bat," eloquently and clearly. "I'll see what I can come up with," she said.
Since 1998, National Poetry Month has been celebrated in Canada each April.
The League of Canadian Poets organizes Canada’s celebration, which this year takes “Food and Poetry” as its official theme, claiming that, “food nourishes, grounds and connects us, much like poetry.”
