Huron-Kinloss taxpayers paid a total of $137,386.28 in council remuneration in 2014, up slightly from the year before.
Township treasurer Jodi MacArthur presented the report at the general committee meeting Monday morning, March 2, outlining the total cost for council members' salaries and per diems, plus expenses, which is up from $132,596.58 in 2013.
Mayor Mitch Twolan received a total of $33,508.02, including salary and per diems of $27,859.10, and expenses of $5,648.92.
Deputy mayor Wilfred Gamble was paid $24,349.46, including $22,264.70 in salary and per diems, and $2,084.76 in expenses.
Councillor Lillian Abbott received a total of $15,396.72, including $14,019.32 in salary and per diems, and $1,377.40 in expenses.
Councillor Jeff Elliott was paid $14,718.78, including $13,860.18 in salary and per diems, and $858.60 in expenses.
Councillor Jim Hanna received $13,237.66, including $12,671.20 in salary and per diems, and $566.46 in expenses.
Councillor Don Murray was paid $18,148.68, including $17,042.98 in salary and per diems, and $1,105.70 in expenses.
Councillor Carl Sloetjes received $18,026.96, including $16,883.84 in salary and per diems, and $1,143.12 in expenses.
Gamble also received $800.40, including $525 in salary and per diems and $275.40 in expenses, for serving as a director on the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA), which is paid by the SVCA; and $660 in salary and per diems for serving as a director on the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA), paid by the MVCA.
