Corinne Wolsley of Kincardine wins award for outstanding service to education

Corinne Wolsley of Kincardine has received the prestigious Colonel R.S. McLaughlin award for outstanding service to education.

The award was presented Saturday at the annual Home and School Conference in London, where Wolsley was representing Kincardine Township-Tiverton Public School.

Presented annually by the Ontario Federation of Home and School Associations, the award goes to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service to education by fostering co-operation between parents and teachers, and by promoting understanding between the Home and School. The award is meant for Home and School members who have made a significant contribution to the federation at the provincial level.

Since 1995, Wolsley has been involved with the Ontario Federation of Home and School Associations. She began her volunteer career at Huron Heights Public School, running the breakfast program. It was not long before she began filling many executive roles, working endlessly at fun fairs, book fairs, staff appreciation luncheons, safe arrival programs, and much more.

Through the years, she worked her way up to Home and School’s Region D president and in 2009, was elected president of the Ontario Federation of Home and School Associations. After serving as president, she continued her work at the provincial level sitting on the awards committee and working on various Home and School Annual Conference committees.

Home and School has come full circle for Wolsley as her grandson now attends KTTPS. Her commitment knows no limits as she begins volunteering with the next generation of Kincardine students!
