OPG supports local elite hockey program
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) – Western Waste Management Facility recently donated $500 toward the operating costs of the Maitland Ice Sharks 2007-aged AAA hockey program.
The spring session operates from mid-April to June and provides local, young elite hockey players the opportunity to practise and play against other top players in North America.
The 2007-aged minor Atom squad is primarily composed of Grey-Bruce-area selected athletes. Through two tournaments the ’07 Sharks have been finalists twice and look to repeat such success in a Niagara-area event this weekend.
The donated funds have been put toward ice time for practices and exhibition games, incurred travel costs to distance tournaments, as well as officials and other operating costs within the program.
The team appreciates the support of OPG.
