Police continue to search near Ripley for man wanted in weapons-related incident
(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) - Huron County and South Bruce OPP officers, along with members from the West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Aviation Services - Helicopter Section, remain in the immediate area of a farm property near Ripley, searching for a man in a weapons-related incident.

Due to safety concerns for all involved parties, police continue to restrict public access around the containment site located just south of Ripley between the 4th and 6th Concessions.

Earlier Thursday (May 11), police searched for the involved man on a farm property in Huron County, north of Kintail. Despite an extensive search, the man was not located. Regular public access to the area around Belfast Road resumed early Thursday afternoon.

Police believe the man is in illegal possession of a firearm. He is 29 years old, six feet tall, and weighs around 200 pounds, with a medium build and black hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a brown sweatshirt.

As always, homeowners are encouraged to secure their property and vehicles. Lock your vehicles when they are unattended and always pocket your ignition key.

OPP is requesting residents in the area to report any suspicious people or suspicious activity on, or in relation to, your property. Should this man be observed on your property, do not confront him; call police by dialing 9-1-1.

This investigation is ongoing, and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
